With temperatures of over 40 degrees most days now bringing with it high humidity, some kindly thoughtful neighbour had the idea of taking the inside out….. by placing a pristine blue check sofa….. outside amongst the shade of the tall umbrella pines trees, perched on the first lap of the narrow road back to my mountain retreat. What a restful place, helping the weary traveller before he ponders his arduous ascent back to his village – However, the guests who sit on the sofa are missing the best view behind them. A magical mill pond of sea stretching out as far as the eye can see. Perhaps the benefactor does not wish the travellers to get too comfortable in this idyllic setting. I have spied men meeting on this sofa sharing cigarettes and daily news-One generous traveller set up his Çay Pot and primus stove to make tea. Passers by who were in need of a sit down, and a refreshing glass of the hot dark stuff…remain truly grateful for this pit stop.
