Dawn took me by the hand.
Together we ventured down the stony path.
Moisture ridden grasses caressed my legs.
Into the silent forest, we stepped
wrapped into the mist of early morning light.
Suddenly alone, I saw the day spread out; like the green fields and sweeping valleys ahead.
I heard the call of the first birdsong and carried on walking towards sunrise.
Filled with anticipation of what the light and brightness might bring.
The sound of water bubbled through pebbles and stones.
On reaching the mountain spring, I stopped, bent down and with cupped hands, I thirstily drank.
Barefoot, I felt the pull of a raging torrent surrounding me.
Just me and the healing water.
Revived, I continued my trek through forest and trees.
Nature brought me to this place for a reason, to stop awhile, and embrace the glory, the power, and the miracle of yet another day.
For this I am grateful.
Ready to fill my hours, to share love and kindness both to myself,
and to others along the way.
