This is my second book of the year and the one I won in the Guide Dogs Auction which was so phenomenally successful! An author I’ve never read before, I realised within a few pages that I’d struck gold. We follow the lives of the residents all living on the same road with lovely Molly taking centre stage. Kind, gentle but broken, she’s determined to begin a new life in a new area after her husband leaves her and then her adult son disappears. Her new elderly neighbours become friends and she does her best to make them happy, but can she find happiness for herself? This is a gentle and beautifully written story featuring a multigenerational cast, all totally believable and likeable. There are some lovely humorous moments and then some that are achingly poignant – I did a fair bit of snivelling throughout. Overall though, it’s a story of friendship and love and of course, second chances. I read this wonderful, warm book in a day, it was totally addictive and I couldn’t wait to find out the fate of all the characters I’d become so attached to and so invested in. I bid on this book because I loved the synopsis and the cover! Turns out that I’ve found another new favourite author whose future books I will be looking out for.
