Storytelling

February 2, 2020

Being Irish we love to tell a good story and equally, we enjoy listening to a great yarn.

I believe Storytelling- Inspires, Teaches, Transports and can Effect Change.

Stories can enrich the reader and listener- touch us in such a way that the memory remains.

As a Writer and Storyteller

My responsibility is to grab my readers attention, take them on an exciting journey, one they wish to go on.

My wish- to transport my audience into a world of drama, intrigue, sadness, adventure, mystery, laughter, memorable moments. And always with sprinkles of Irish humour.

Because words draw us in, ignite feelings, passion- sometimes even magic can happen. The reader might dream bigger dreams, and take the opportunity to change.

Storytelling, Reading and Writing are the windows into our powerful imaginations. Enablers to learn more about language, people, and culture. Showing us key skills to communicate better and observe life from a different perspective.

And there is also the opportunity to extend our storytelling, into the Global World of Business too.

The telling of stories has become a significant element in delivering memorable presentations, podcasts and videos to potential clients.

Good conversations like storytelling is an art form and takes practice.

A personal story that evokes emotion and is compelling, has proven to grow more loyalty. When done well, it further develops a brand and raises a company’s profile, along with a greater trust in clients, resulting in healthier relationships.

Storytelling plays an important part in ‘KickStarters and Crowdfunding’ where nominees can shine. By relaying their unique story they motivate interest for entrepreneurs to invest and support their business ideas financially.

Could National Storytelling Week be the catalyst that changes you and those around you, as you start to write the story, the blog, the presentation or the novel?

Set a goal. Let’s continue to support and motivate each other, to include friends, family, children and work colleagues.

Why stop after a week? Why not plan a project for the year ahead?
Let imagination and ideas flow. And most of all, enjoy telling your stories.
