Networking for writers, by Lizzie Chantree

October 30, 2020

It is a real pleasure to host here, Lizzie Chantree’s Blog where she talks about her first non-fiction book- Networking for Writers.

I would like to take this opportunity of wishing Lizzie huge success as she continues to really help and support writers and published authors.

My name is Lizzie Chantree and I am a contemporary romance author and I have just published my first non-fiction book. I ran my own award-winning business for over fifteen years until I had a change of career due to my child being unwell (she’s fine now). I began writing books as a way to reduce stress and found a beautiful new career from some hard times.

My first networking book is full of ways to help someone like me, who was a completely unknown author, but it is also packed full of advice for the author I am today, which is an internationally bestselling writer of multiple books. I talk about how my books found readership through my network of support and ways to build your own base of people who will regularly share news of your writing, who will want to hear progress of your work and buy it to read at home or holiday.

Writing books can be an incredible way to meet likeminded people in the book loving and writing community, but it can also feel quite isolating at times, so building a network can help to build your confidence and widen your customer base.

My first contemporary romance book, Babe Driven, still sits in the bestseller lists, seven years after it was first published. I attribute this to my incredible community of support, which grows daily, due to easy to learn techniques.

Networking is about being social, but it is also about structure, discipline and focus. In my book, I offer insight into the tools I use to stay productive, find writing time and to have room left to step away from work and give myself space to breathe and let creativity blossom.

Whether you are a new or experienced writer, self-published or traditionally published, this book will show you how to grow your readership and author network, through some of the most powerful of all marketing tools – word of mouth and recommendation.

This book will show you:

How networking can help you sell more books.

Why author branding is important.

How networking hours work.

Specific Facebook groups for writers

How to utilise social media to grow your readership.

How not to waste valuable writing time.

How to make our marketing more effective.

Throughout Networking for Writers, we will explore running or attending book signings, hosting seminars, finding a writing buddy or mentor, author networking groups, social media planning and so much more.
