The Path of Words

Born in Dublin, there has been a constant thread of writing and storytelling running through my life.  I nurture my ability to tell stories thanks to my Irish heritage.

At twenty-two, I packed a suitcase with hope, left Dublin, Ireland, and headed for London.

I planned to spend a few weeks soaking up big city life, then head to Paris to pursue a career on stage and become an author. I never made it to France. My author’s plan was squashed. Instead, I developed a career in the restaurant business.

Eventually, I stepped into the health and fitness service industry.

My work and life ended abruptly in 1997 six months after marrying my husband, down to chronic ill health. Living in the UK did not support my recovery. With a leap of faith, we moved to the mountains of south west Turkey to a small village, untouched for hundreds of years.

Following my fast-paced career, I began writing poetry. I could see the results quickly and writing did not sap my energy.

I turned my life around, learned a new language and integrated into village life. By letting go of Western world thinking and embracing Asian culture, I became a full-time writer and storyteller. I wrote short stories inspired by this vibrant, rich, cultural tapestry.

Using a pen name, my first collection of short stories, was published in 2013. Two more books followed in 2015 under my real name.

In 2017, using the working title of Days on Our Street, I completed a first draft novel.

Thanks to signing with the US, The Publishing Circle and Linda Stirling at the helm who took me under her wing. Second Chances, published in April 2023.

Second Chances is a touching tale that takes us on a journey from India to Kent, UK, following the intertwined lives of the residents who live on the same road.

A poignant, multigenerational tale of connections and community, showcasing the unbreakable human spirit and the hope that can come from taking a leap of faith.

I am proud I have reignited my passion for writing. I happily grabbed my second chance as a published author, storyteller, blogger and speaker.
